A 6 mos. vacation for not agreeing with the BOE. She was worthless when she got here and is now taking our money to sit on her butt. It is time for this BOE to stand up and take responsibility for their HUUUUUGE mistake! Read below the propaganda;

After serving the East Greenbush Central School District as its Superintendent since this summer, Dr. Rebecca Furlong requested and the Board has granted her a paid leave of absence following which she is expected to resign her position effective June 30, 2008.

The circumstances surrounding Dr. Furlong’s requested leave are due in part to changes in thinking regarding the goals and priorities established by the District since the commencement of services as well as the manner in which they are to be addressed. This movement has caused Dr. Furlong and the Board of Education, after careful consideration, to question the continued viability of the relationship established when she first agreed to lead East Greenbush.


The Board of Education and Dr. Furlong depart on amicable terms. The entire Board wishes Dr. Furlong well. The Board feels she has the ability and demonstrated work ethic to be a successful educational leader in the future.


Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angela M. Guptill has been appointed effective immediately to serve as Acting Superintendent for the District while the Board addresses transitional matters. During this period, the Board of Education’s primary concern remains the continuity of quality education and services for our students. We are confident that Dr. Guptill, along with Assistant Superintendents Lawrence Edson, Jr. and Timothy Lange will provide the stewardship necessary to ensure that this occurs.

Things for EG taxpayers to consider in May:
-$20,000 for a search committee
-$15,000 for a mentor
-paid leave of absence for Dr. F.
-possibly having to buy out her contract when she leaves
-starting all over with a new search
-signing a new contract for a new hireand all the angst, and uproar caused by this whole situation,
ALSO, we know for a fact that Dr. Becky was planning to work all day Monday, so why the LIE from the BOE that this was a requested leave for a personal matter? Why not tell the tax payers, staff and public that they requested she take a leave until her issues are cleared up? If it is not something that happened at our district, as rumors suggest, then tell us so upfront. We don't need the legal personnel details, just truth from our board.

I guess rumors of her going out in cuffs may not be true!

Dear Member of the East Greenbush School Community:
I am writing to inform you that the East Greenbush Board of Education has granted a leave of absence for personal reasons, as requested by Superintendent Dr. Rebecca Furlong, and has appointed Dr. Angela M. Guptill as Acting Superintendent of Schools effective immediately.
Dr. Guptill has been serving as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the District, working in that capacity for 3 years and has been employed by the district for five years. The Board has asked her to assume the responsibilities of the superintendency and to oversee District operations while Dr. Furlong is on her approved leave.
During this period, the Board of Education’s primary concern remains the continuity of the educational process for our students. We are confident Dr. Guptill, along with assistant superintendents Lawrence Edson Jr. and Timothy Lange, will provide the stewardship required to ensure that this occurs.
Additionally, let me assure you that the Board and Administration of the East Greenbush Central School District are continuing our efforts to maintain and improve the quality and integrity of the educational programs and services we provide to our students.
We appreciate Dr. Guptill’s willingness to serve as Acting Superintendent and will provide you with additional information about the District as it develops.

Dr. NOT FURLONG GONE?

Apparently Becky has either resigned or was asked to leave. It is too early to know the truth and the reliability of the BOE to give us the truth is certainly questionable. We can only say Dr. NOT FUR LONG is on to torment another school district!

This evenings Executive Session of the BOE may or may not give us more info. MAYBE?

We cannot allow Good Educators to leave!

We cannot allow this board to throw our district into a shambles because of their ineptness! They need to make the change that is necessary or they all should resign!

We had a GREAT School District before this Superintendent. She has ruined every district she has been in. We need to step up and take our district back. THIS BOE IS IN FOR A GOOD HOUSE CLEANING!

What are the real issues?
